Director: Mr. Geoff Fotland
Geoff Fotland has been the Band Director at Hillsboro High School for the past 14 years. He earned a Bachelors Degree in “Music,” and a Master of Education in “Teaching,” from Portland State University. He also has a Masters Degree in Music, from the “American Band College” of Sam Houston State University. Prior to teaching in the Hillsboro School District, Mr. Fotland played saxophone, flute, and clarinet as an orchestra musician for many years on Carnival Cruise Lines Ships, and has also been very busy as a saxophonist in the Portland Jazz and Blues communities. Mr. Fotland is a member of NAFME, “National Association for Music Education,” NWAPA, “Northwest Association for Performing Arts,” OMEA, “Oregon Music Educators Association,” and OBDA, “Oregon Band Directors Association.” He and his wife Jenny, reside in Beaverton Oregon, where they enjoy frequenting the beautiful Oregon coast, and also mountain biking and hiking.
